Wow, it's been a while. Things have been hectic around here. S1 was nominated by his math and science teachers to be tested for the Gifted and Talented program, if he makes it into the program he'll be going to a new school. G1 was also nominated for the gifted program by her teacher but she'll be at the same school and get 45 minutes a day of gifted intruction if she makes it into the program.

The other two, S2 and S3, are doing about the same. S2 is struggling in 4th grade and S3 is excelling in 2nd grade.

I've been busy with PTA and FRG. With the PTA I'm on the box tops for education committee and I'm chairing the T-Shirt committee. With the FRG I've been busy taking classes and I'm getting ready to start the tranistion to me being the FRG leader for the largest FRG on Fort Bliss. I'm also going to be taking the AFTB Instructors course in November so I'll be teaching AFTB come December. Then there is all the stuff that goes into keeping a family of six running.

First Day of School 8/25/08

Okay, the morning went better than expected. S-3 was so excited about going back to school that he was asleep by 8:45 (normally it's more like midnight). The kids got up without to much hassle and got thru the morning and we were at the school by 7:30. Well they weren't going to let us in until 8. Then at 7:45 some of the teachers said to come in and find the classrooms. Well, S-2's teacher wasn't there yet, so we go and find S-1's class, talked with his teacher a bit and moved on the S-3's class talked with his teacher and moved to G-1's class, well she wasn't letting them in yet, so DH stayed with her and I took S-2 to his class. Got him settled in and talked to his teacher for a minute. Then I went to the cafeteria to see if they were approved for free lunches and to double check their bus, both lines were long so I just double checked their bus (I called the district nutrition office later in the day and they are getting free lunches). Well, 3:40 rolls arounds so I walk down to the bus stop, the bus is suppose to come at 3:53, it shows up at 4:10 and only 2 of my kids were on it S-1 and G-1. Then the driver gets off and says that the rest of the kids are still at the school as there were 168 kids on this bus route and he can only take 73, that he'd be back with the rest in about 30 minutes. So, I take the others home get them a drink and something to eat. Go back down to the bus stop, and the bus finally shows at 5:10...my kids weren't on it. The driver asked if they were two little blonde boys and I said yes, he goes one of them demanded that I stop at the last set of mailboxes and let them off there because that's where they live. So, I start walking back home and here comes all 3 boys running down the street (we had left S-1 at home to work on homework). I spent the next hour and a half doing all the paperwork the teachers sent home and still had to make dinner (we got chicken at the wal-mart deli) and buy the last minute school supplies that S-2's teacher sent home a list of.

Almost back to school time.

I went yesterday to Milam Elem on Biggs to register my youngest and they let me do all 4 kiddos. In El Paso, you have to register your kids every school year, they don't carry over from one year to the next. If your kids will ride the bus you will recieve a bus pass for him/her. I wasn't to pleased with how far we have to walk to get to the bus stop, they've got 3 stops for my area of Paso del Norte Heights and 2 for the section just west of me. Also, if your kids ride the bus and you were hoping to have them eat breakfast at school, forget about it....my kids get free breakfast and lunch...well the buses get there between 7:55 and 8, the tardy bell rings at 8:05, they'd be counted tardy if they ate breakfast at school. Milam had supply lists available at registration. They don't have a meet the teacher night. I was told after 3 or 5 pm on Friday, Aug 22, we could come up to the school to find out the name and room number of the kids teachers and that they just ride the bus and take all their supplies to the classs. I'm sorry that doesn't work for me. I'm not sending my kids to a new school on a bus without them knowning where their class rooms are, no way no how. So I'll be braving the mad house on the 25th. All in all we are ready for back to school. I know I am. Just have a few supplies left to get that were accidentally left off the list.

Been a while

It's been 2 weeks since my last blog. Man has it really....sure enough. I talk to myself a lot, but if you are reading this you already know that. We are counting down to VBS and the 1st day of the 2008-09 school year. VBS starts in 2 days and school starts in 23 days. I've gotten the majority of the back to school shopping done and the kids are pretty much set to go back, they all need new shoes still.

The last couple of weeks have been busy. I hosted a get together for an e-mail group I'm in, had 9 ladies come with a total of 18 kids. Tried to go to a ball game last Sunday, it started late due to a rain delay, so our tickets became 2 for 1 tickets, then they called the game at the end of the 1st inning because of lightening, got home from the ball park (about 7 minutes from home) just as the rain came pouring down.

S-1 is having some issues. And I'm having issues with Tri-Care West. I'm trying to get S-1 into a specialist (he was seeing one at Fort Hood). I got the referal from the PCM, now I'm waiting on referals to make the damn appointment with the specialist. S-1 is down to less than a weeks worth of meds and the pharmacy here can't refill them because they don't carry the medication. I talked to a pharmacy tech at Wal-Mart, they carry the medication, but can't transfer the prescription from Fort Hood because it was filled at the base hosptial. Why can't all military hosptials carry the same medications? Oh, wait, that would be to easy. So, Monday, I'm heading to referals while the kids are in VBS and I'm getting that appointment before I walk out the door.

It's Friday....again

Another week has past and what an eventful week it has been. Late Sunday a friend and I began planning a potluck lunch for Thursday, at MY house. Those who know me, know this is not something I normally do is have people of to my house. I am a perfectist and have panic attacks, so preparing for this get together took special planning on my part. We'll things went off with out a hitch I had 8 ladies here from my e-mail group and thank heaven everyone had a good time and the food was great. Now to reclaim my house. The last 2 ladies left 5 minutes before my hubby got home from work. I was starting to clean up when get got here, well about an hour later, just I started to think about making dinner, the power went out, it came back on 4 hours later, went back out 3 minutes later, came back on 3 hours later....and has been on ever since. The kids were nice to me this morning and let me sleep until 11:30. So now I sit here still in my pjs and thinking about all the stuff I need to do before hubby gets home in 3 1/2 hours. I'd better get my butt out from in front of this computer and get dressed and get to work....time to rally the troops...uh...I mean....kids.

Half way there

I can't believe that summer break is half way done. Normally I'd be totally insane by now but for some reason this summer has been a bit different, yeah they are driving me crazy but not like in the past. It could be the fact that I broke down 2 weeks ago and agreed to buy them a PS2. Now in order for them to be able to play all of their chores have to be done and they have to go to sleep the night before. I'm really proud of my kids, they even do extra chores to earn more time or to earn back time they've lost. My house has never been cleaner.

Finally Friday

Yeah it's finally Friday!!!!!!! In about 4 1/2 hours my hubby will be home for the weekend....yeah no weekend Chapel Duty. We will spend the weekend doing something as a family, not sure what yet but hopefully it will be something fun. I'm just happy to have time with my husband and I am sure the kids are too. And I won't be doing any cleaning (other than dishes) as the kids are getting all the housework done right now and I'm doing laundry.

It is going to be one of those days

Can I send them all back to bed? Well all but the one that is still in bed? S-2 is still asleep, he loves to sleep in. S-3 was the first to greet me and he had an attitude, that just got an adjustment with a time out. G-1 was the next up, she came out of her room all smiles and fully dressed. S-1 of course has an attitude but not more than is to be expected out of a preteen boy and hasn't really gotten on my nerve yet but trust me, he will be in about an hour or so when he starts bugging me about playing the PS2. Haven't even see the other half today, didn't even wake me up to say good bye before he left for work, oh well, it isn't a first and probably won't be a last.

Here's hoping that the day goes better than the last 30 minutes has...doubtful....it's another rainy day.

Can I go back to bed????

Last night was terrible.....didn't get much sleep. S-3 decided that he didn't have to sleep last night, mind you he is 7 1/2 and has full blown ADHD. I found him in the dining room and kitchen at 2:45 this morning fully dressed. He told me that he was cleaning the house. He had the front door open (thankfully the storm door was closed and locked), and almost every light in the downstairs on.

Sunday Night

Today was a quiet day at home. I woke up around 10:30 and Jerry had all the kids cleaning the house from the long weekend so I wouldn't have to. Jerry made the kids lunch, pizza and I made spaghetti for dinner. All in all it has been a good day. I watched Army Wives like I do every Sunday evening, and cried as always.

Saturday mornings

I usually get up and cook breakfast on Saturday mornings. Well today I made eggs and bacon...two kinds of bacon. I have 1 child (S-1) who won't eat real bacon because it has fat (a health concious 10 yo), so I have to make him turkey bacon (shivers).

We need to go out and find me a chair for my desk but I can't get S-3 to get his morning chores done or to get dressed. Instead he is sitting watching S-1 play on the PS2.

Our house

Well, we got base housing 7 weeks ago today. We live in a brand new house, not a townhouse or an apartment, we have a single family home. It is so much bigger than what we are use to. I think I'm going to need more furniture.

Why did I.......?

Why did I let my husband and kids talk me into buying a new PS2? I knew it wouldn't be a good idea. Yeah it's hot here in El Paso and the kids don't get to play outside during the day and our backyard is a slope so I can't put a pool out there. My husband and kids argue over which one of them gets to play first and which game they are going to play. And of course my husband hooked it up to the tv in the living room. I haven't been able to watch tv in the living room for 2 days now. Well, atleast they aren't yelling "I'm Bored".
